Banana Beach
South Coast of KwaZulu Natal

(Also known as the Melville Beach)

Banana Beach is the perfect place for a family day in the sun.  There is plenty of parking, a fun walkway leading to the beach, rocks to climb and explore and plenty of natural rock pools that will lead to the discovery of small fishies and thingies.  The large tidal pool is perfect to relax in and the spectacular sea views are the perfect backdrop for a perfect day at the beach.

It is a beautiful unspoiled beach where you are still able to find little sea creatures hiding in the folds and crevices of the rocks.  It still offers the opportunity for parents to take little ones on an adventure of discovery among the rocks while it is safe enough for bigger kids to play on their own while their parents get a suntan or take a dip in the tidal pool

Access to Banana Beach

To reach the beach you will need to take a leisurely walk of approximately 100+ meters.  Starting from the parking area follow the paved pathway onto the walkway that is raised above the Koshwana river and winds around the supporting pillar of the railway bridge until you reach the beach.

Beach and Tidal Pool

The rocks and rock pools are a heaven for children to explore and will keep them entertained for hours.  There is plenty of opportunity to climb around, explore, meet sea creatures up close and personal or to splash around in one of the many shallow pools.
