The golf course is part of a trust and the trusts maintains it for the 300 members and visitors that keeps on coming back to play this unusual and very scenic course time and again. The views looking down on the Indian Ocean as you walk this course are some of the best on the south coast and the fairways that follow the contours of the grounds are exceptionally well designed. Be prepared for a hugely pleasurable round of golf.
The first nine holes are parallel to the sea and have amazing views while the second nine twists away through lush indigenous forest. The layout is quirky and unique features such as walking from some of the greens to the next tees will have you taking dense forest paths giving the impression that you accidentally walked into a magical kingdom. It is truly a beautifully scenic course.
Unless you are super fit and climbing hills is your thing heed my warning and use a golf car on this very hilly course. The many elevation changes will make for very interesting and stimulating playing while also offering amazing views of KwaZula Natal overlooking the sea at its best.
At times the course can give the impression of being neglected, especially during a dry winter, but the greens are so well designed that it will hold a well struck shot well and are still true to put on despite seasonal conditions.
The signature hole is the par 3 12th ,known as Majubh, that is a mere 110 meters but the steep uphill shot to a green that seems to be perched in the bush is very challenging. The 18th hole, called the gallery, is especially memorable because of the panoramic views.
