Margate is a small vacation town on the south coast of Kwazulu Natal. Sounds nice but a bit boring and uneventful doesn’t it?
Don’t be fooled.
Travel Margate and you’ll soon discover it is THE party destination of the south coast. The town is colorful, vibrant and there is always something going on. The nightlife is exciting and happening to suit most preferences.
It is a great destination for families as there are plenty to do for kids but is also very popular among the younger, singles crowd because of the lively nightlife and how this town comes alive during the peak of the holiday season. In peak season you can expect beach festivals, music concerts, beach competitions, nightly Mardi Grass, flea markets and exhibitions.
Most activities centers around the spectacular beach and the business district, that is within short walking distance, where you will find a wide selection of restaurants, street cafes and places to shop but also night clubs, pubs and other watering holes. It is up to you whether you choose to have a nice meal at one of the excellent local restaurants and go to bed early or if you want to party the night away.
Margate is a very popular destination for school leavers and students because of what is on offer. The annual New Year’s Eve beach party is legendary with thousands of party goers converging on the beach to celebrate right through the night. Margate Beach
This beach is truly memorable with its swaying palm trees and golden sandy beach. The waves are perfect for both surfing and swimming and you will spend many hours there creating beautiful memories. Life guards are on duty all year round and amenities, accommodation, restaurants and the business district are within walking distance.

Margate Pier and Whale Deck
The Pier was newly renovated after being damaged in the spring equinox storms in 2007 and is a much visited landmark today. It is a very popular fishing spot equipped with handy baiting and gutting tables. The views from there are breathtaking and looking down on the churning waves below is a great experience.

Play a round of golf at Margate’s country Club that is very welcoming to visitors. You can expect a challenging round while being surrounded with lush tropical trees, undulating fairways and greens spotted with moonlike depressions here and there, devilish bunkers and various water hazards in the shape of streams, ponds and waterfalls.
